Retirement Communities in Washington

Retirement communities are one of the many options available to seniors. They are for the most part aimed at elderly people who are no longer working or have certain limitations once they hit a certain age. They are different than retirement homes. These are either small complexes or single buildings. There are no designated areas for socializing among other senior citizens.

Retirement communities are designed for senior citizens and offer many perks such as golf courses, adult retail shops as well as medical facilities. Not all have these features, but many do. Most communities have set age restrictions from 50 and older.
These communities are divided into three separate categories that include:

* Active/Supportive - these combine both medical facilities as well as residential units
* Supportive - these are long-term units that include nursing homes
* Active - units are residential - there are no medical facilities
